The Mills cross country team hosted the 26th annual Mills Invitational on Saturday. The event featured a men's 8k and a women's 6k, with both courses running through the Mills College campus. In the women's race, Mills went up against runners from UC Merced, Menlo College, and University of Pacific.
The Cyclones entered 13 runners, with seven competing in their first race of the season. Lena Tahir was Mills' top finisher at 33:05:00. Tahir finished within a minute of two Division I runners, missing out on placing in the top ten by 30 seconds. Valeska Munoz finished closely behind Tahir at 33:44:00 and Caroline Karimi rounded out the top three for Mills at 34:20:00. Also for Mills, Carolina Sanchez and Diana Cuellar showed significant improvement from last year, taking off 3:01 and 4:32 respectively.
A special thanks to the Mills College Cheer Squad, who spent the day providing encouragement and entertainment to runners and spectators!
