The Mills volleyball team welcomed visiting Simpson University on Senior Day. Mills graduates one player from this year's young squad, Miranda Crothers, who will be going on to complete her nursing degree at Samuel Merritt University. Crothers, a second year player, serves as one of the team captains and has been a consistent leader on and off the court. In today's match she led the team in digs and kill percentage, adding an ace and a block as well.
Simpson dominated play quickly, taking games one and two 25-3 and 25-5. However, the Cyclones came back hard in game three, taking an early lead. They kept the lead, trading points with the Redhawks until Simpson was able to surge ahead 15-13. Mills kept fighting, producing some great plays and long rallies. Ultimately, the Redhawks offense proved to be too strong and the Cyclones fell 25-15.
Today's match wraps up home contests for the year. Mills plays again next weekend at UC Santa Cruz before travelling to Agnes Scott for the Great South Athletic Conference Championships.
