Cyclones Close out Successful Liberal Arts Championships

In the final day of competition at the Liberal Arts Championships, Mills swimming added two more pool records, two Mills records, and several personal bests. In the preliminary round, the Cyclones had four individuals and one relay qualify for tonight's finals.

Morgan Leishman was the first qualifier of the day. After placing 5th in the preliminary race, she dropped over three seconds to take 2nd place in the finals. In addition to finishing as the runner-up, she broke her own school record by over two seconds as well as the Luther pool record. In the 200 breaststroke Hannah Soltz and Aine Piedad both qualified for the B Final. Additionally, they both moved on to the Mills Top Ten List in 3rd and 6th place respectively. Melissa Berkay earned her spot in the 200 fly A Final with a 1st place finish in the preliminary race. She was able to maintain this position in the finals, earning her second top finish of the meet.

Six Mills swimmers posted lifetime best swims. In the 100 free, Juli Lopez, Coco Kennedy, Anneke Moser, Rivas, and Anamaria Villegas all had best times. Maggie Krystad added a personal best in the 200 back, and Sophia Preach dropped almost 45 seconds in the 1650 free for a best time. The final event of the meet, the 400 free relay broke the Mills record set at last year's Liberal Arts Championships.

As a team, the Cyclones finished in 8th place after a hard fought battle for 7th, capping off an incredible meet with their best team finish at the Liberal Arts Championships.
