On Sept. 17th the Cyclones hosted another DII school at Mills College. UC Merced brought an experienced roster with them and scored early in the game against the Cyclones. Even with the early score, head coach Dosalmas was happy with the first half performance, "It was the best 45 minutes we have put together so far and there were huge improvements in our defensive shape."
Senior defender, Jessica Wong was a force to be reckoned with in the back line. She was anticipating plays, intercepting passes, and winning balls out of the air. Her play was physical and she was strong on the ball. Dosalmas added, "She was also great at organizing teammates by giving directions and keeping players focused."
Looking ahead, the Cyclones will focus on creating more attacking opportunities and practice building them before they head down to SoCal next weekend.
"The team is looking fitter, players were able to hold their own. I think it's a strong position to be in leading into the next section of our season," Dosalmas said.
The Cyclones will fly down to St. Katherine University to compete on Sept. 21 in SoCal.
