The Mills swim team kicked off the final day of the Liberal Arts Championships the same way they started, breaking records and reaching lifetime bests. Six Cyclones achieved lifetime best times, three recorded Top Ten swims, another school record was broken, and three Cyclones and the 400 free relay team are headed back to tonight’s finals.
In the first event of the morning, the 200 backstroke, Maggie Krystad, Ashley Young, and Morgan Leishman all swam for lifetime bests. Young moved to ninth on the Mills Top Ten list and Leishman broke the Mills school record and will move onto finals seeded second. In the 100 free Juli Lopez dropped a second from her lifetime best and Heather Larson improved on hers by three seconds. Aine Piedad dropped an impressive thirteen seconds in the 200 breast for a lifetime best and fifth on the Top Ten list. Daniela Fiestas-Paredes had a season best swim and is seeded ninth going into finals. Joining Leishman and Fiestas-Paredes tonight is Melissa Berkay who maintained her first place seed after the morning’s preliminary swim. For the final event of the weekend, the 400 free relay will compete tonight in the consolation finals.
