Last month, the swim team competed in the Liberal Arts Championship at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Cyclones battled through the four day event led by senior Morgan Leishman. Leishman was named to the All Championship LAC team for her performance in the 200 back. Leishman took the top seed in the 200 back prelims allowing her to pick the walk out song for the finals that night. "She was beaming as she walked up to the starting block. It was awesome to see," said head coach Neil Virtue. In the finals, Leishman placed 2nd by 0.02 seconds. Virtue and assistant Quinn Silberman double checked the back up times and even reviewed film of the finish that were negilable, but Virtue was proud of Leishman all the same.
This is her fourth year receiving the All Championship team honors. Leishman recieves this honor alongside 75 other athletes, 35 women and 40 men. She represents Mills College in the 9 other colleges that are represent on the women's side.
Virtue commented, "[This] is an outstanding accomplishment and shows her impact on our team and in the pool. To go out in her senior year in her 'event' the 200 back with a strong performance is a great way to have finished her individual career as a Mills College Cyclone. In addition to her pool accolades, her attitude, effort, support and commiment will also be a legacy that Morgan leaves behind."
Leishman will be graduating this May leaving a great legacy behind her as Virtue stated. During her four years at Mills, she has been on the top 10 all time lists at least 50 times and currently holds 9 school records while being on each top 10 all time lists (18 events).
